Jesus Calls His Disciples

"Jesus doesn't call us because we are perfect; He calls us to leave everything behind and follow Him."

Simon Peter, Andrew, James, and John were ordinary, hardworking fishermen. After an exhausting night of catching absolutely nothing, Jesus asked to use Peter's boat to teach the crowds. Then, Jesus told the professional fisherman to throw his nets into the deep water. The resulting miraculous catch of fish was so massive it almost sank two boats! This miracle caused Peter to fall on his knees in repentance. Jesus didn't push the imperfect fisherman away; instead, He called him to a brand new mission: catching people. This lesson teaches children that Jesus uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things when we choose to follow Him.
