Elijah and the Widow

"When we trust God with what little we have, He provides exactly what we need."

The prophet Elijah lived during a time of terrible drought and famine. But God didn't send him to a wealthy king for help; God sent him to a poor, starving widow in a foreign town. This story is a beautiful picture of radical trust. The widow had only enough flour and oil for one final meal for her and her son. Yet, when Elijah asked her to trust God's promise and make a loaf of bread for him first, she obeyed. This lesson teaches children that God is our ultimate Provider. We don't have to be afraid of running out, because God's supply never runs dry.
